Abstract (EN): According to data from the West Pasaman District Health Office in 2023, there were 7,767 deliveries, with 4,464 (57.5%) normal deliveries and 3,303 (42.5%) cesarean sections (SC). A non-pharmacological method to manage labor pain is instrumental music therapy. This study aims to determine the effect of instrumental music therapy on labor pain intensity in normal labor stage I active phase in the PONED room at Community Health Center Silaping, West Pasaman District. This is a quasi-experimental study with a One-Group Pre-Posttest design. The study was conducted from November 13 to December 22, 2024, in the PONED room at Community Health Center Silaping. The population of the study consisted of all mothers giving birth from November to December 2024, totaling 20 people. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The results showed that the average pain intensity in stage I active phase before receiving instrumental music therapy was 6.80, and after receiving it, the pain intensity decreased to 5.10. There is an effect of instrumental music therapy on labor pain intensity in normal labor stage I active phase (P-value = 0.000). The conclusion is that instrumental music therapy has an effect on labor pain intensity in normal labor stage I active phase. It is recommended that midwives continue to administer instrumental music therapy during labor to help mothers remain relaxed and comfortable, reducing pain and facilitating a smooth delivery.
