The immune system is a complex and essential natural defense mechanism of the body that fights against various antigens, including viruses and bacteria. However, factors such as lifestyle, nutrition, and environmental exposure can lead to a decline in immune function. Traditional medicine offers potential alternatives to enhance immune responses, one of which is the use of avocado leaves (Persea americana Mill.), known to be rich in bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and antioxidants. This study aimed to assess the potential of avocado leaf extract as an immunomodulator by evaluating its effect on the complete blood profile and determining the most effective dosage. This experimental study used 16 male white rats (Rattus norvegicus), divided into four groups: a control group and three treatment groups receiving avocado leaf extract at doses of 150 mg/kgBW, 300 mg/kgBW, and 600 mg/kgBW per day for 14 days. Measured parameters included hemoglobin, hematocrit, erythrocytes, lymphocytes, monocytes, and platelets. The results showed that administration of avocado leaf extract increased hematocrit, erythrocyte, and platelet levels. However, it did not significantly affect hemoglobin, lymphocyte, or monocyte levels. Overall, the 150 mg/kgBW dosage showed the most optimal results in improving the complete blood profile as an immunomodulator. The study concludes that avocado leaf extract has potential as a natural agent to support the immune system. However, further research is needed, particularly on acute and chronic toxicity testing, to ensure its safety for use.
