Abstract (EN): In the year of 2003, WHO estimated that the prevalence of skeletal muscles disorders had reached by 60% from all work-caused diseases. From the results of national studies conducted in 14 cities in Indonesia by PERDOSI 2002, found 18.13% of patients with low back pain. This research is aimed to know the correlation of working hours duration and work ergonomics towards the low back pain on the public transportation drivers in the city of Bukittinggi. The type of research that is used was the analytical research by using the crosssectional approach that was carried out on the IKABE public transportation drivers in the city of Bukittinggi on the month of August - September 2016. The sampling technique used was random sampling. The total of sample in this research was 169 respondents. The data were obtained through the observations, interviews and dissemination of questionnaires to the respondents. The data that had been obtained were then processed univariately as well as bivariately and analyzed by using the chisquare statistical method with computerized program. The results of analysis from this research towards 169 public transportation drivers showed that there were 60 (35.5%) of respondents to the working time is not appropriate, 87 (51.5%) of respondents with inadequate working ergonomics, and 112 (66.3%) of respondents had complaints of low back pain. The statistical test used on the working hours duration towards the low back pain complaints could find the p value of 0.267 (pv>0.05) with OR=0,651, as for the work ergonomic towards the low back pain complaints, the p value was 0.000 (pv<0.05) with OR=7,601. It could then be concluded from this research that the working hours duration did not correlate to the low back pain complaints while the work ergonomics did possess such a significant correlation to the low back pain complaints on the public transportation drivers. For that is expected on public transportation drivers to adopt an ergonomic sitting position while driving.
